When Caroline and Matt said they were game for a sunrise shoot, I was ecstatic. As an Atlanta, Georgia Wedding Photographer, I have a list of favorite spots around the city for engagement sessions. Winn Park has quickly jumped to the top of my favorite locations list. It’s a quaint, quiet park nestled in a bustling neighborhood of Atlanta. From the stone steps to the abundance of greenery to the gently flowing water, there’s so much to love.
Caroline and Matt met at their best friend’s house warming party and were instantly drawn to each other. He couldn’t stop smiling. She loved his smile and the way he made her laugh. From the start, they loved being around one another, hanging out. At the end of the night, they went their separate ways without exchanging numbers. One month later, the two met again at another gathering with friends. Matt excitedly asked Caroline on a date. She happily agreed.
OMG, the way he looks at her is so freaking sweet. It’s so easy to see how much they adore one another.
In December of 2020, Matt planned the perfect getaway at The Grove Park Inn in Asheville, North Carolina. He drove them up on a Friday evening with big plans for breakfast the following morning.
The Grove Park Inn, encompassed by the Blue Ridge Mountains, is a setting made for movies. The view that morning was breathtaking. A light fog sat atop the mountain range, along the horizon, casting the prettiest pink and purple sky. Caroline couldn’t resist getting a photo so they headed down the grand staircase to seize the opportunity. Just as she went to ask someone to take a photo of them, Matt got down on one knee and asked Caroline to marry him.
Afterward, Matt drove them to his parents home where Caroline thought they would be celebrating with his family. Little did she know, Matt invited her family to join and all of their closest friends for a surprise engagement party.
